AAXA Technologies has recently released their new LED android projector.
This is one of the few pico projectors on the market that currently run android integrated directly to the projector. You can use this functionality to do almost anything a computer could do hooked up to the projector like watching Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, viewing power point presentations, and video conferencing. The projector is running the android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system which will allows installation of almost any current app on the Google play store.
This pico projector outputs up to 550 lumens under boost mode which creates a vivid 100″ image in dim lighting and a totally usable one in bright lighting. The processor is pretty quick and the interface is fluid. Although you technically don’t need to use an outside source with the projector you can always plug in a device Via Composite AV, VGA, HDMI, and USB.
We’ve seen a couple of other android projectors hit the market lately such as the SourcingBay Droidbeam
or the GOWE LED android projector
And it is looking like this may be the future of pico projectors, however AAXA’s model is the first truly compact unit that we’ve found and it’s claims at 550 lumens seem to be spot on to our light meter.
Definitely worth checking it out if you’re in the market for a pico or even full sized projector, we’ll be doing some in depth reviews of some of the other LED android projectors on the market soon.
In the meantime, here is a video of the LED android from AAXA in use, in the video they are web chatting directly from the projector, no computer used.
